Blind River Risk for Manitoulin?

A friend suggested that Blind River ON may be a significant risk for Manitoulin Island.

Blind River ON is the home for the world's largest nuclear fuel refinery and processing plant, owned & operated by Cameco.  Here is a Nukemap showing the likely effects of a 9 megaton (MT) nuclear weapon hitting Blind River ON.

Figure 1:  Likely effects of a 9 MT nuclear attack of Blind River ON nuclear fuel plant.  The largest circle around Blind River shows the 50% probability zone for 3rd degree burns from a 9 MT air burst 6 km above.  The next smallest circle shows the effect zone for a 9 MT ground burst.  Also shown is the nuclear fallout

Nuclear fallout is primarily created by a ground burst nuclear blast (ie. bomb explodes close to the surface of the earth).  An air burst (ie. 6 km above the earth surface) will maximize the radiation and blast waves which maximizes the destroying of buildings and killing of people.

As you can see, Manitoulin's Meldrum Bay, Sheshewaning First Nation Reserve, and Zhiibaahaasing First Nation Reserve will likely be affected.

It is suggested that these areas take additional precautions ASAP.
