Apathy and Atheism are slowly winning over the world.
In the USA as of 2020, only 47% of adults are members of a church, synagogue, or mosque; less than half of the population.
It wasn't always so. Gallop has been polling Americans since 1927 on this topic (see https://www.zerohedge.com/political/america-lost-its-religion-church-membership-plunges-below-50-first-time ). Religion hit a peak in 1947 (fresh after the deadly Second World War), of 73% of citizens as members of a religious organization.
Let's do some calculations:
1947 Max of 76%
2020 Minimum of 47%
2020-1947= 73 yrs duration
(47/76)^(1/73)=0.9934
Therefore attendance after X years= 76(0.9934)^X
1-0.9934= 0.0066 0.0066 x 100%= 0.66
Therefore a 0.66%/yr decay on average.
### Halfing Time ###
Let X be the number of years to cut membership in half.
0.9934^x=0.5 (ie. Cut in half)
X log 0.9934= log 0.5
X=log (0.5)/log(0.9934)=105.28 yrs.
Therefore, religious service attendance is cut in half, and half again, every 105.28 yrs.
Yes , its an exponential, but a very slow half time.
The radioactive isotopes Nickel-63 has a half-life of 100.1 years, and Polonium-209 has a half-life of 125.2 years, so religion is in-between these two.
When you consider that the fraction of religious memberships that are Christian has also been dropping (Islam is increasing exponentially). The wild cults that aren't Christian, but call themselves so are also rising in popularity. The nominal Christians who vary significantly from the Bible on one or more significant point are the vast majority of those who call themselves Christian.
We are therefore left with only a small, shrinking minority, a mere remnant, who want to obey God and follow His righteous path in full respect to the Bible.
Praise God that this remnant has a target rich environment.
